1 INTRODUCTION Parkinson's disease (PD) and multiple system atrophy (MSA) are neurodegenerative movement disorders that share a long preceding non-motor phase characterized by sleep disturbances such as insomnia, circadian rhythm disruption, and rapid-eye-movement sleep behavior disorder (RBD) [1]. These common clinical symptoms are explained by similarities in the pathophysiology of PD and MSA, both belonging to the family of α-synucleinopathies.
