    Shares of Apple (AAPL -2.88%) slumped on Friday in response to a new tariff threat from President Donald Trump. In a post on Truth Social, Trump threatened a tariff of at least 25% on all iPhones manufactured outside of the United States. Apple has been shifting some production from China to India, reportedly planning to make most of its U.S.-bound iPhones in India by the end of 2026.

    Graphics processing unit (GPU) giant Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) now generates most of its revenue from data center GPUs aimed at artificial intelligence (AI) workloads. In the fourth quarter of fiscal 2025, the data center segment produced $35.6 billion in revenue compared to just $2.5 billion for the gaming segment. Given the monstrous growth in AI accelerator demand and Nvidia's complete dominance of that market, it makes sense for the company to prioritize its data center business.

    Telecom giant AT&T (NYSE: T) doubled down on its fiber internet strategy on Wednesday with a $5.75 billion deal to acquire Lumen's Mass Markets fiber business. The acquisition will come with approximately 1 million fiber subscribers and 4 million passed locations, expanding AT&T's fiber presence in Denver, Las Vegas, Orlando, Seattle, and other major metro areas. Lumen's assets will form a new fully owned subsidiary. AT&T already had big plans for its fiber network before the Lumen acquisition.

    For years, semiconductor giant Intel (INTC -2.49%) has been exiting lines of business that don't fit with its overall strategy. Under former CEO Pat Gelsinger, Intel sold off its NAND and SSD operations, wound down its Optane memory unit, spun off Mobileye via an initial public offering (IPO), exited the prebuilt server business, gave up on Bitcoin mining chips, and sold a minority stake in its IMS Nanofabrication business.

    There have been a few high-profile customer wins for Intel's (NASDAQ: INTC) nascent foundry business and its flagship Intel 18A manufacturing process, including deals with Microsoft and Amazon to produce future chips. The company has also won some business for its advanced packaging technology, and revenue from this will start to pick up in the second half of 2025.
