Three wildfires were raging around Southern California Wednesday, Jan. 8, forcing evacuations and threatening homes in Los Angeles County. The Eaton fire, affecting areas in Pasadena, Altadena, Sierra Madre and La Cañada Flintridge, has burned more than 10,000 acres as of Thursday morning. Fire officials report that more than 1,000 homes have been damaged to the fire. In Sylmar, the Hurst fire has grown to more than 800 acres Thursday, forcing emergency evacuations in some neighborhoods.

Beverly Hills Unified School District officials today were investigating the discovery of fake nude photos of students at a middle school that were apparently generated using artificial intelligence. The photos were first detected by officials at Beverly Vista Middle School, 200 S. Elm Drive, last week, according to a message sent by district and school administrators to parents and staff.

Clarence Avant, a prominent figure in the music industry, has died at his home in Los Angeles on Sunday at the age of 92, according to media reports. No cause of death was provided.
