African 100m record holder Ferdinand Omanyala says it is not all gloom after his third place finish at the Kip Keino Classic, a World Athletics Continental Gold Tour meet, in Nairobi over the weekend. Omanyala placed third in a time of 10.07, a race won by Australia’s Lachlan Kennedy while South Africa’s Walaza Bayanda was second. Speaking to Telecomasia.net after the race, Omanyala says he is focused on his next assignment, the Rome leg of the Diamond League, where he hopes to do better.

Myke Rabar, the Chief Executive Officer of the Local Organizing Committee for the 2025 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) says Kenya is well on course to deliver all requirements ahead of the tournament set for August. The 2025 CHAN will be co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. It was initially set for February but pushed to August to give the three countries more time to prepare.

Athletics’ approval of the Ulinzi Sports Complex for the one day meet has come in handy, and will spur a memorable and competitive event. The Kip Keino Classic had originally been scheduled for the Nyayo National Stadium but due to the slow process of renovating the track, was pushed to the Ulinzi Complex.
