In April 1945, with the Third Reich crashing to its end, millions of Soviet troops streaming in from the east and Anglo-American armies from the west, the Gestapo was still hunting down dissent. Many Germans were simply trying to survive. Millions of men who otherwise would have been in factories, were instead at the front lines. So, the Germans imported slave workers.

Last week, the United States Supreme Court heard arguments in Medina v. Planned Parenthood South Atlantic. At issue is whether individual states can deny Medicaid funds to abortion industry organizations like Planned Parenthood. According to the Alliance Defending Freedom, whose lawyers are arguing the case, this started back in 2018 when South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster directed that no Medicaid money could go to groups that perform abortions.

Worldview has been done badly but, as a movement, it’s been largely self-corrective. Some of the earliest champions of Christian worldview, such as Herman Bavinck and Herman Dooyeweerd, pushed worldview thinking away from the confusions of German rationalism. Almost every popular champion of Christian worldview, from James Sire to Nancy Pearcey to Francis Schaeffer to Charles Colson, argued against reducing faith to cerebral formulas.

It wasn’t long ago that, every Easter and Christmas, an onslaught of articles and TV specials would appear in places like Time, National Geographic, The New York Times, Newsweek, CNN, and others, doubting the reliability of the Bible, the historicity of Christ, and the development of Christianity. Among the claims made were that Jesus never existed, that the Gospels are later fabrications, and that the Resurrection accounts are knock-offs from pagan mythology.

On this date, 80 years ago, in the waning days of the Third Reich, German theologian and pastor Dietrich Bonhoeffer was executed for treason. In a time when many of his fellow Germans, including pastors and priests, embraced Hitler and the Nationalist ideas of the Third Reich, Bonhoeffer did not. Eventually, his resistance would lead to his involvement in a plot to assassinate Hitler. The plot failed, and Bonhoeffer was among those who were exposed.

A recent article shared by Justin Brierley described a trend in Norway that is also being seen in Finland and other European nations. Church attendance and membership jumped there by 750 new members. While that would not be anything notable in Texas, it is in almost every European nation. While over 60% of the population in Norway are formal members of the state church, only 2% of Norway’s 5.5 million people attend.

According to ShoutYourAbortion.com (yes, that is a real website), women who want children are the abnormal ones. For example, Syd, who identified herself as a convert to Catholicism, wrote, “Thanks to my abortion, I will have a future.” Another wrote, “Abortion gave me a chance to focus on my own life.” An anonymous college student stated, “My future was worth it, and I am more than just a vessel to produce new life.” She then compared her baby to a tumor standing between her and her career.
