In one of the most prolific swatting cases ever prosecuted, a teenage “serial swatter” pleaded guilty Wednesday to making hoax threats to schools, religious institutions and government officials about mass shootings and bombings across the country. Alan Filion, 18, of Lancaster, California, pleaded guilty to four counts of making interstate threats, the U.S. Department of Justice said. Filion faces a maximum penalty of five years in prison for each charge, federal prosecutors said.

An 84-year-old man was arrested this week in connection with the slaying of a female hitchhiker 50 years ago in Wisconsin. Mary K. Schlais, 25, was found dead Feb. 15, 1974, at an intersection in Spring Brook, Wisconsin, the Dunn County Sheriff’s Office said. Mary K. Schlais. The Minneapolis, woman was killed while hitchhiking to an art show in Chicago, Sheriff Kevin Bygd said Friday. “This was a very bright lady who had a very bright future ahead of her,” he said.

A soldier stationed in Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri has been charged with murder in the death of a sergeant whose body was found inside a dumpster at the base, officials said. Specialist Wooster Rancy, 21, with the 5th Engineer Battalion, is also charged with obstructing justice, in connection to the death of 23-year-old Sgt. Sarah Roque, the Army said Thursday. Rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine was arrested Tuesday on alleged violations of his conditions of supervised release, according to federal authorities. Tekashi 6ix9ine, whose real name is Daniel Hernandez, was arrested on a warrant issued by the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, court records show.
