Recent publications have questioned the importance of the Plasma Protein Therapeutics Association's (PPTA) results as they relate to source plasma (SP) donor health. A commentary published in Transfusion by Van Remoortel et al. states that the ‘very-low-quality evidence … should not be used to substantiate claims regarding the safety of repeated plasmapheresis’ [1].
