    Last week, the Chronicle asked its readers in an online poll the following question: “Do you believe current U.S.-Iran diplomatic talks will successfully prevent military conflict?” Of the 200 people who responded, 63% said no, 12% said yes and 25% said they weren’t sure. Comments were submitted by 43 people. A few follow. The Iranians will never abandon their nuclear weapons program. Iran has never been weaker. We should destroy their program.

    Last week, the Chronicle asked its readers in an online poll the following question: “Do you believe Donald Trump’s tariffs on foreign goods will be beneficial to the U.S. economy?” Of the 428 people who responded, 78% said no, 18% said yes and 4% said they weren’t sure. Comments were submitted by 134 people. A few follow. They will not be beneficial to any country’s economy, only to rich politicians who can take advantage of them for personal gain.

    U.S. Rep. Summer Lee, who represents Squirrel Hill, sponsored four Joint Resolutions of Disapproval this week that would block the sale of certain arms to Israel. The JRDs were introduced by Reps. Pramila Jayapal of Washington and Rashida Tlaib of Michigan, and sponsored by 14 other House representatives, including Lee.

    Last week, the Chronicle asked its readers in an online poll the following question: “Since Oct. 7, 2023, have you ended a relationship because the person expressed antisemitic views?” Of the 252 people who responded, 71% said no and 29% said yes. Comments were submitted by 77 people. A few follow. On TikTok I’ve unfollowed everyone who added the Palestine flag to their user name. I also unfollowed all my previous friends who repeat their words.

    In the last year, Alex Edelman won both a Tony and an Emmy for his show “Just For Us.” The show had an extended run on Broadway and aired as an HBO special. Not bad for a young Jewish day school alum. Inspired by a meeting of white nationalists that Edelman attended in New York several years ago, “Just For Us” examined serious questions of identity and assimilation. It was also really funny.
