A man and woman arrested as police investigate the death of a baby girl in Oldham have been bailed. Greater Manchester Police have stressed detectives are not treating the case 'as a murder or homicide investigation'. The force said on Tuesday (February 12) a man in his 40s and a woman in her 20s had been bailed. They were detained on suspicion of neglect after a baby girl was found dead on Sunday (February 9).

A girl and her mother are among at least six people dead following the US's second aircraft tragedy in two days. The relatives and four crew members were travelling in a medical transport jet, which plummeted to the ground seconds after take off in Philadelphia on Friday at 6pm local time, the Mirror reports. It exploded into fireball, which engulfed homes. A major incident was declared. A recovery mission continues. People have been warned to stay away from north eastern Philadelphia.

A major incident has been declared in parts of Wales amid Storm Darragh chaos. Dyfed-Powys Police said it was continuing to experience high volumes of calls about fallen trees and poor driving conditions. Superintendent Chris Neve said: “I have this morning declared a major incident for the counties of Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and Powys, which means that together with our partners, we can call on the resources we need to respond to the challenges brought by Storm Darragh.

A man has died after a tree fell onto his van during Storm Darragh. Emergency services were called at around 9am today (Saturday, December 7) to the A59 at Longton near Lancashire Police HQ. The man, who was in his 40s, was driving his Citroen van on the dual carriageway when the tree fell on to his vehicle. He was left with serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by a specially trained officers.

The man at the centre of a murder investigation in Wythenshawe has been named as James Murray. The 47-year-old's family has issued a statement in the wake of the tragedy earlier this week. Police have also given an update on the case. Mr Murray was found unresponsive after Greater Manchester Police were called to reports of a stabbing on Whitburn Road at around 8pm on Wednesday (December 4). Despite efforts to save him, Mr Murray was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Former couple Alan Townley and Patricia Jones have been locked up after the brave victim came forward. Chester Crown Court heard Townley, 61, and Jones, 58, were in a relationship. She was aware he was a convicted sex offender, Cheshire Police said, but 'facilitated access' to the child, 'enabling the offences to take place'.
