    William F. Tate IV’s abrupt departure as LSU president to take the same role at Rutgers did not come as a shock to anyone who watched Louisiana politics unfold this winter. When Gov. Jeff Landry took office in January, many observers predicted that Tate’s days in Baton Rouge were numbered. Political reporter Piper Hutchinson told Tiger Rag Radio that though she could not definitively report it Tate likely was shown the door once Landry insisted on installing his own allies at the university.

Two legislators who filed bills to exempt NIL payments from income taxes have said they will not pursue votes on their legislation, citing perception issues with giving well-paid student-athletes a tax break while tightening the belt on critical state services.

    LSU junior right-hander Anthony Eyanson was named on Monday the Southeastern Conference Co-Pitcher of the Week by the league office. Eyanson shared the honor with Zach Root of Arkansas. A product of Lakewood, Calif., Eyanson fired a brilliant complete-game three hitter on Saturday night in a 2-1 victory at Texas A&M. He limited the Aggies to just one run on three hits in 9.0 innings with one walk and 14 strikeouts, and he allowed only one Texas A&M hitter to advance beyond second base.
