HOUSTON (KIAH) - Judy Garland's original pair of ruby slippers worn in The Wizard of Oz have been found after nearly two decades missing. On Monday, Heritage Auctions in Dallas announced that the iconic sequined shoes are up for bid now until December 7. According to reports, in 2005, the iconic slippers were on loan at the Judy Garland Museum in Minnesota when they were stolen. The thieves believed the shoes were covered in valuable jewels.

HOUSTON (KIAH) — To combat the negative health and environmental consequences of carbon emissions from diesel trucks operating in and around the Houston area, the Port of Houston has been awarded a $3 million grant through the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Clean Ports Program. The SHIFT (Shipping Houston Industry, Freight and Technology) program is designed to reduce diesel emissions by working with the community.

HOUSTON (KIAH) – On Tuesday, July 24, Mayor John Whitmire announced that Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee will lie in state at Houston City Hall on Monday, July 29, from 9 a.m. to 7p.m. An official press release of her passing states that Jackson Lee succumbed to her recent battle with pancreatic cancer. She announced that she was undergoing treatments in June 2024. The Congresswoman passed away on July 19, at the age of 74.
