Saturday at Alliance High School, a group of hard-hitting Beavers blocked North Ridgeville’s path to the state tournament. Painesville Riverside pounded out 19 hits, including three home runs, as they easily handled North Ridgeville, 11-3, in a Division II regional final.

Boys basketball: Avon Lake hires T.J. Kwasniak as coach to replace Eric Smith Avon Lake turned to one of the most storied basketball families in Northeast Ohio to find its next head coach. The school announced Thursday that pending board approval T.J. Kwasniak will be the school’s next boys coach, replacing Eric Smith, who retired after 19 years at the end of the 2024-25 season.

Big night for Avon Lake at All-Star wrestling meetELYRIA — It was a big night for Avon Lake at the 43rd annual Lorain County Wrestling Coaches and Officials Association All-Star Meet on Thursday at Elyria High School. Seniors Rejan Al-Hashash and Jack Valerino were presented the Paul Reynolds Trophy as the top female and male wrestlers, while Avon Lake boys coach Scott Sedlick was named Division I Coach of the Year, and Dennis Copfer took home girls Coach of the Year honors.
