By Todd Wellington State's Attorney Jessica Zaleski dismissed a Hardwick case that involved alleged spitting and kicking police officers. Promise Kempton, 19, of Dutton Road in Hardwick, had been charged in Caledonia Superior Court on May 20 with misdemeanor domestic assault and simple assault with fluids on Deputy Sheriff Brenden Marrier. Marrier is from the Lamoille County Sheriff's Department.

By Todd Wellington A Danville man missed his arraignment on a felony aggravated domestic assault charge because "he really needed some help," his attorney told the court recently. Cedric Curly, 30, had an arrest warrant issued for him when he failed to show up for the hearing in Caledonia Superior Court on April 29. His attorney, Jennifer Cleveland, told the court of his whereabouts on that day during a May 9 hearing that Curly did attend.

A man who was charged in 2022 with felony aggravated sexual assault and lewd & lascivious conduct with a 15-year-old girl was given a deferred sentence. The state dismissed the lewd & lascivious change and amended the sexual assault charge to aggravated domestic assault.

There will be no Pet Parade in 2024, but organizers plan to bring it back next May. In the meantime, parade manager Anita Price Roth is spending time planning and professionalizing the organization. Her sights are firmly set on the 75th-Annivesary parade in Spring, 2025.

A local man pled not guilty to assaulting a security guard, a nurse, an EMT and a State Trooper at Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital. Tyler Roy, 27, who lives on Pinehurst Street in Lyndonville, denied the charges on Monday, May 6. Judge Michael R. Kainen released Roy on conditions. Roy was charged with six misdemeanor charges, including two counts of simple assault with fluids and four counts of assault on a protected professional.
