By Todd Wellington State's Attorney Jessica Zaleski dismissed a Hardwick case that involved alleged spitting and kicking police officers. Promise Kempton, 19, of Dutton Road in Hardwick, had been charged in Caledonia Superior Court on May 20 with misdemeanor domestic assault and simple assault with fluids on Deputy Sheriff Brenden Marrier. Marrier is from the Lamoille County Sheriff's Department.

By Todd Wellington A Danville man missed his arraignment on a felony aggravated domestic assault charge because "he really needed some help," his attorney told the court recently. Cedric Curly, 30, had an arrest warrant issued for him when he failed to show up for the hearing in Caledonia Superior Court on April 29. His attorney, Jennifer Cleveland, told the court of his whereabouts on that day during a May 9 hearing that Curly did attend.
Man Charged With Sexual Assault On Teen Gets Deferred Sentence

A man who was charged in 2022 with felony aggravated sexual assault and lewd & lascivious conduct with a 15-year-old girl was given a deferred sentence. The state dismissed the lewd & lascivious change and amended the sexual assault charge to aggravated domestic assault.

Man Denies Chainsaw Threats To Security Guard, Staff At NVRH

A local man pled not guilty to assaulting a security guard, a nurse, an EMT and a State Trooper at Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital. Tyler Roy, 27, who lives on Pinehurst Street in Lyndonville, denied the charges on Monday, May 6. Judge Michael R. Kainen released Roy on conditions. Roy was charged with six misdemeanor charges, including two counts of simple assault with fluids and four counts of assault on a protected professional.
NVRH Wants To Expand Its Emergency Department

Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital wants to expand its Emergency Department. NVRH officials submitted an application for an Act 250 permit on April 23, 2024. The District 7 Environmental Commission is now reviewing this application. The project is located at 1315 Hospital Drive in St. Johnsbury.

By Todd Wellington Timothy S. Randall and Christopher A. Rice were charged with sexually assaulting a 16-year-old boy in 2018. They both pleaded guilty during the sentencing on Wednesday to an amended charge of prohibited conduct. But they were not sentenced to prison. Both of them were fined just $300. Both were from Lyndonville.

By Todd Wellington A Kirby man pled not guilty to felony charges of attempted murder, attempted sexual assault, and 1st-degree aggravated domestic assault on Wednesday. Charles Hunt Jr., 18, from Kirby Mountain Road, was held without bail. Judge Michael R. Kainen also ordered a mental health exam and a competency evaluation.
The St. Johnsbury Band Opens On Memorial Day
