A MERCEDES driver that caught the attention of police on the M25 hadn't had a valid driving license for four years. The motorist wasn't stopped for anything in particular, and police say it was simply a routine document check. Just by luck, officers from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfofrdshire Roads Policing Unit had accidentally struck gold. After pulling the car over at the side of the motorway, that runs through Hertfordshire, with routes to London, they noticed something.

POLICE have charged a man with murder after a mum and her young son were found dead in Ugley, near Bishop's Stortford. Maria Nugara, 54, and her son Giuseppe Morreale, 29, both died at the scene after an incident on Tuesday, May 28. Officers have now charged Calogero Ricotta, 63, of Cambridge Road, Ugley, with double murder and one count of actual bodily harm. He is due to appear at Chelmsford Magistrates' Court today (Friday, May 31).

POLICE were forced to educate parents on child seat regulations after finding an "improperly restrained" youngster in a Land Rover. Officers stopped a speeding, modified Land Rover Defender on the M1 near Harpenden at Junction 10 on Monday earlier this week. A SHOPLIFTER has been jailed for six weeks and ordered to pay compensation after stealing "several" cleaning products from B&M. Shahjahan Miah targeted the High Street store in Watford, taking items in three separate incidents between May 18 and May 22.
