August, 1965, about 125 incoming freshman showed up at the Lucas County Rec Center Football Field. The fledgling Jesuit School on Airport Highway was being built but did not have a practice field yet. The Jesuits purchased a tract of land where there were few traffic lights, mostly cows — nothing but farm land as far as you could see, an interesting spot to plop a school on.
