A prison guard believed Andrew Light, 45, was 'killing him' as he attacked Whiting, 66, with the wooden blade in HMP Wakefield. Whiting - who was serving a life sentence for the abduction and murder of eight-year-old Sarah Payne in July 2000 - was stabbed by Light with the improvised weapon, on February 11 2024, a jury at Leeds Crown Court was told.
