Photo by Steph Chambers/Getty Images Happy Mother’s Day. Call your mom. We are going to a Mother’s Day brunch, so I’m putting the GameThread up early. Addison Barger had a terrific time in Seattle. Yesterday, he had the three hardest hit balls of the game (with Varsho and Guerrero rounding out the top five). The day before he was 1, 3 and 5 in the top five hardest hit balls (with Julio Rodriguez filling in the other two spots).

Photo by Stephen Brashear/Getty Images Blue Jays 6 Mariners 3Baseball is so much more fun when the Jays score. The top of the eighth inning was a thing of beauty. Tied at three, George Springer starts things off with a walk and then steals second. After an Alejandro Kirk flyout, Addison Barger singled home Springer. Barger hit that at 110.1 mph. People wondered why Barger was getting playing time when he was hitting .139 a few days ago, but he can hit the ball hard.

Photo by Alika Jenner/Getty Images I’m staying with my son in Edmonton for two days, so content will be slim. Given the team's recent play, We have a two-game winning streak, which given the team’s recent play, seems like a 10-game win streak. It is weird watching a game in Seattle without 20,000 Jays fans. It might be this way for the next three years. Yesterday’s game was fun, even if Yimi Garcia’s was stressful. It was nice to see Addison Barger hitting the ball hard.

Joe Nicholson-Imagn Images The Jays start a three-game weekend series with the Mariners in Seattle tonight. As Minor Leaguer posted, we have a new middle infielder, Michael Stefanic, to replace Andrés Giménez, who is on the IL with a quad strain. We needed someone who could play the infield in case of injury. Stefanic hasn’t struck out much in the minors (about a 10% rate in his minor league career). He’s another undrafted player who has made it to the majors. Tonight’s lineup.

Kirby Lee-Imagn Images Blue Jays 8 Angels 5When, in the first inning, Bo Bichette, Vladimir Guerrero and Anthony Santander all singled to load the bases, with no outs and then George Springer, Daulton Varsho and Alejandro Kirk all struck out, we thought we were in for another one of those games. Then, the Angels scored two in the bottom of the inning on a Taylor Ward home run. We were sure it was going to be another terrible night. In the second inning, Jo Adell hit another home run.
