David Schneider Optioned To Buffalo

The Jays have optioned Davis Schneider to Buffalo. This might mean that Addison Barger is staying in Toronto when Nathan Lukes returns from Paternity Leave. Davis is hitting .067/.333/.067 in 21 PA, so not a surprise that he's going down I was surprised when he made the team out of spring training. Hopefully he'll find a way to make contact with the Bisons.

David Butler II-Imagn Images Over the past two weeks, the Blue Jays were 6-6. The pitchers had a 2.74 ERA. Chris Bassitt: 3 starts, 1-0, 0.52 ERA. In 17.1 innings, batters hit .191/.227/.254 with 0 home runs, 3 walk and 24 strikeouts. One of the three starts was a Quality Start, the other two were 5.2 innings, and 5 innings. They seem to be being careful with his pitch count. I enjoy watching him pitch. Kevin Gausman: 3 starts, 1-1, 2.33 ERA.

Nick Turchiaro-Imagn Images That was a fun game yesterday. We needed one of those. Today’s game starts at 1:00 Eastern. I have a busy morning planned, so I won’t get a chance to put the thread together. So this will have to do for a GameThread. The starters are:For the Braves: Spencer Strider (wasn’t he in Lord of the Rings?) making his first appearance of 2025. He pitched 9 innings last year, but in 2023 he was 20-5 with a 3.86 ERA in 32 starts.

Addison hasn’t had the best of starts in Buffalo, hitting just .221/.311/.421 with two homers and two doubles. Congratulations to Nathan Lukes, whose wife had a baby boy, their second child. I always like to point out that you aren’t really a parent until you have a second child. When you have one, you always know ‘who did it’. When it is two, you don’t know.

Nick Turchiaro-Imagn Images Braves 8 Jays 4Easton Lucas didn’t allow a run in his first two starts. He threw 10.1 innings, allowing 4 hits, 3 walks and 11 strikeouts. Tonight, well, there was a course correction. He went 5 innings, allowing 6 hits, 8 earned, 4 walks, 3 strikeouts with 3 home runs. His ERA went from 0 to 4.70. To be honest, this is closer to what I expected from him, but I’ll hope he’s back to putting up zeros in his next start.

I used to like these press conferences, but now they seem so scripted that nothing of interest will be said. Vlad’s happy to be here, and the team is glad he’s here. Everyone is happy. Nothing the least bit interesting will be said. But Vlad said nothing interesting in a very charming way. Today’s lineup. Springer is out.

It is game two in the two-game series in Baltimore and then the Braves come to Toronto for three games. Today, Jose Berrios (1-1, 4.58) will face Cade Povich (0-1, 3.48). We have the right-handed lineup in. The Davis Schneider watch is still on; the last on the roster without a hit. He will have to hit at some point if he wants to stay on the roster.

Unfortunately, he gave up a hit in the 8th—a two-run home run—but we still won. From the recap:Didn’t we have the debate about whether Ricky Romero was any good? I think he answered that one. He went 8 innings, allowed one hit, 12 K, 10 ground outs with 2 fly outs. Unfortunately, the one hit was an Alex Rios homer, but such is life.
