    Five South Umpqua softball players were honored in the recent Class 3A all-state voting for the 2025 season. The teams were determined in a vote of the coaches. S.U. senior pitcher Reaghan Gilbert was a repeat selection on the first team. Gilbert helped the Lancers reach the state semifinals and finish with a 24-5 record. Making the second team for the Lancers were junior catcher Danika Richardson, sophomore outfielder Dakota Gallego, senior infielder Mady Pratt and junior infielder Regan Ireland.

    Three recent graduates from two Douglas County schools participated in the Oregon Athletic Coaches Association Class 4A/3A/2A All-Star Basketball Series over the weekend. Oakland's Joseph Fusco and Gabe Williamson, and Sutherlin's Coltyn Jacobs played for the South team. Oakland's Jeff Clark was one of the coaches for the South. The South defeated the East 94-86 Friday at Bushnell University in Eugene and lost to the West 120-95 Saturday at Warner Pacific University in Portland.

    The 47th annual Abby’s/Pepsi/10 Barrel Brewing Co. Chapman golf tournament attracted a large contingent of players over the weekend at Roseburg Country Club. The team of Neal Brown and John Murphy won the A Flight gross championship with a two-day score of 146.

    The Klamath Falls Falcons handed the Roseburg Pepsi Bottlecaps a 15-0 loss in seven innings in an American Legion baseball Single-A game on Friday afternoon at Bill Gray Legion Stadium at Champion Car Wash Field. The contest was stopped early due to the mercy rule. Klamath Falls pounded out 16 hits against three Pepsi pitchers. Conner Shively was 3-for-3 with two doubles, four RBIs and two runs for the Falcons.

    Three central Douglas County players were first-team selections in the recent Class 3A baseball all-state voting for the 2025 season. The teams were determined in a vote of the coaches. Making the first team were senior first baseman Drew Camp of South Umpqua, junior outfielder Dylan Standley of Glide and senior outfielder Tauj Flora of Sutherlin.
