Four Roseburg softball players were selected to the All-Southwest Conference first team for the 2025 season in a recent vote of the coaches. Junior catcher Terra Singleton, junior infielder Ciera Singleton, senior outfielder Masyn Tabor and junior outfielder Danika Opp represented the Indians on the first team. Making the second team were senior infielder Ella Martinez-Bryson and sophomore outfielder Cadence Ellenwood.

They did it. The Roseburg boys 4x400-meter relay team broke a 14-year-old school record in the OSAA Class 6A state track and field championships on Saturday evening at Hayward Field in Eugene. Running the second of two timed finals, the quartet of junior David Schmid, sophomore Caden Moon and juniors Joseph Latham and McLane Stedman was timed in 3 minutes, 19.33 seconds, good for fourth place.

Here are Friday's highlights involving Douglas County athletes from the OSAA state track and field meets at Hayward Field in Eugene. Sutherlin senior Rylan Bryant finished second in the Class 3A boys discus with a throw of 159 feet, 4 inches. Glendale sophomore Jayden Smith placed third in the 1A boys long jump with a best of 20-6 1/4, a PR.

BEAVERTON — The Roseburg softball team knew it would have its hands full facing No. 2-seeded Jesuit on Friday. The Crusaders were superior to the No. 7 Indians in all phases, trouncing Roseburg 15-1 in five innings in the quarterfinal round of the OSAA Class 6A playoffs. The contest was stopped early due to the mercy rule. Roseburg ended its season with a 22-7 record. Jesuit (25-5) moves on to a semifinal game against No. 3 Sherwood (27-3) at home Tuesday.

MEDFORD — The South Umpqua baseball team wasn't able to capitalize on enough scoring chances in its OSAA Class 3A playoff game with Cascade Christian on Friday. The No. 2-seeded Challengers scored a run in the bottom of the sixth inning and went on to hand the No. 7 Lancers a 6-5 loss in a quarterfinal contest at Lithia & Driveway Fields. Cascade Christian (23-6), guided by Douglas High School graduate Kevin Shafer, advanced to a semifinal game against No. 3 Warrenton (23-5) at home Tuesday.
