EUGENE — Freshman Amina Mulendela won the 100 meters (12.34 seconds) and finished second in the 200 (25.62), leading the Umpqua Community College women's track and field team to a third-place team finish in the Northwest Athletic Conference South Region meet on Saturday at Lane Community College. The UCC men, with two athletes finishing second in individual events, were fourth in their meet.

DRAIN — North Douglas senior Brooklyn Cyr threw a perfect game at the Powers Cruisers and the Warriors posted a 10-0 win in five innings in a nonleague softball game on Saturday at Howard's Field. The contest was stopped early due to the mercy rule. The Warriors improved to 19-2 on the season and extended their winning streak to 10 games. Cyr struck out nine and walked none.

GRANTS PASS — The Roseburg boys 4x400-meter relay team broke the meet record in the 75th Grants Pass Rotary Invitational track and field meet on Saturday at Russ Werner Field. The quartet of David Schmid, Isaiah Hutchins, Joseph Latham and McLane Stedman was timed in 3 minutes, 22.25 seconds. Sutherlin senior Rylan Bryant won the shot put (53-8 3/4) and discus (160-3 1/4, PR). Stedman placed third in the 400 (50.54).

EUGENE — The Roseburg High School softball team didn't get what it wanted — a sweep — but the Indians ended the day on a one-game winning streak. The Indians only managed three hits in a 2-1 loss in the opener Saturday, which Sheldon won on a walk-off two-run homer by Natalia Shoemaker with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning. Roseburg came alive offensively in the nightcap, stroking 12 hits in a 12-7 victory over the Irish to split the doubleheader and win the season series.
