4 students injured in Dallas high school shooting

Officials say at least four students were injured Tuesday afternoon at a shooting at a Dallas high school. The Dallas Independent School District said in an update a little after 2 p.m. local time that Wilmer-Hutchins High School in the 5500 block of Langdon Road in southern Dallas County was “secured” after reports of a shooting around 1:25 p.m.According to reports, a 17-year-old student was shot in the leg but no fatalities were reported.

Holy Redeemer senior Josh Rocha joined an elite club, becoming the third Royal to reach 1,000 kills. Rocha hit the mark in a nonleague victory over New Covenant Christian on Tuesday, as he finished with 67 kills in two matches this week. This season, the senior attacker has more than 500 kills as the Royals sit at 18-5 and are ranked No. 5 in the state by PVCA. Talk about the start of your season. You are off to a really strong start with almost 30 kills a match: I am feeling great.

WRIGHT TWP. — There’s something about the wilderness that brings out Jorja Snyder’s passion. The Crestwood senior loves the outdoors, and is an avid hunter and fisher. Ask her about it, and you can hear the passion beam from her voice. “I think it’s just being outside. I like the peaceful aspect of it, and it’s kind of neat to do something that a lot of people aren’t doing,” she said.

TUNKHANNOCK — At first, it seemed like a routine pop-up to second. Then again, when Addisyn Waterman is on base, nothing is going to be routine. As soon as Pittston Area’s Kelcey Podwika caught the ball at the edge of the dirt, the Tunkhannock leadoff hitter broke from third and headed home. She was safe, beating the throw by a few steps, as the sophomore had herself a solid day both at the plate and in the field during the Wyoming Valley Conference Division 1 matchup.

She's replacing, arguably, the greatest pitcher in the history of the conference - and maybe District 2. Ask the new pitcher about it, and no surprise, she just smiles. "I am having fun," she said.
