    South Florida has weathered a storm that has wreaked havoc in San Francisco, Chicago and New York. The value of some office buildings in those central business districts has plummeted in recent years as companies made hybrid work permanent, vacancies increased and higher interest rates made refinancing mortgages more expensive. But Miami, Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach have not experienced those same challenges.

    Condo sales fell sharply across South Florida in April even as median prices held steady thanks to newer and more expensive units. The number of existing single family homes that sold last month also fell from the pace a year ago, according to monthly data from the Miami Association of Realtors. However, home prices increases have outpaced more volatility in condo prices.
