Nikolai Sidelnikov, right, shakes hands with Dimitri Shostakovich. (Photo from Sidelnikov website.)As much as I love the famous Russian composers of the 20th century and the modern age — Stravinsky, Prokofiev, Shostakovich — I have a soft spot for the many more obscure composers who don’t get more attention. Deadline reports that a well-known Israeli actor, Lior Ashkenazi, has been signed for the project.

But if you listen to rock music, you probably know some of the bands who had successful music careers largely because of Dixon's production skills. Dixon was the co-producer for the first two studio albums recorded by R.E.M.; “Rolling Stone” magazine named Murmur, the band’s initial album, the best album of 1983.
