Diary,People keep asking me what I have against an institution that brings so much happiness to so many people. Well, that’s not true. I have nothing against Habitat for Humanity. Who would be against an institution that builds affordable housing for families in need? As for those of you who would be referring to marriage, now, that’s a whole other different kettle to boil. You see, I don’t like cucumbers or cod liver oil. But I wasn’t born hating these two foul foods.

Edgar Ogutu is a radio presenter at Ghetto Radio, where he has worked for 10 years, and the parent of Kunta Kinte, a 13 years old child diagnosed with sickle cell anaemia at the age of two years. "I discovered he had sickle cell while he was two years old, the same day his mother was diagnosed with leukemia," he says, adding that they later lost the mum. It was just a usual routine medical check-up at Aga Khan Hospital for the child.

China is trialling visa-free travel for citizens from France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain and Malaysia for a year, its foreign ministry said. From December to 30 November 2024, ordinary passport holders from these countries can do business or travel in China without a visa for up to 15 days. This is to help "promote China's high-quality development and opening up", spokeswoman Mao Ning said on Friday. Currently, most travellers need a visa to enter China.

A trip to Beijing is not complete without a visit to the theatre. Journalists attending the third Belt and Road Forum last month got a taste of traditional Chinese drama courtesy of the Shanghai Kunqu Opera Troupe. For three hours, they were regaled by a colourfully dressed cast at the Chang’an Grand Theatre in Beijing. The actors performed a dazzling rendition of the age-old play, The Palace of Eternal Life.
