Meta Platforms has opened up access to its AI assistant on its Ray-Ban Meta glasses in seven more European markets. In a blog post on Wednesday, Meta confirmed that “today, we’re announcing that we’re expanding access to Meta AI on Ray-Ban Meta glasses to Germany, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland. Starting today, people in these countries can interact with Meta AI using their voice to get answers to general questions.”Meta AI had launched in the US back in 2023.

China-based AI start-up DeepSeek continues to be the subject of investigations around the world, amid privacy concerns over the data it collects. Reuters reported that South Korea’s data protection authority said on Thursday that DeepSeek had transferred user information and prompts without permission when the service was still available for download in the country’s app market.

Advertisers now have a new social media platform available for their adverts, from the product family of Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta Platforms. Back in January 2025, Meta revealed that it had begun testing advertising on its Twitter-like Threads app, which now apparently has 320 million monthly active users.

AI pioneer OpenAI is facing more unwelcome headlines over its restructuring into a “for-profit benefit corporation” – a move that is being actively opposed by AI rival Elon Musk. The Associated Press reported that ten former employees of OpenAI are asking the top law enforcement officers in California and Delaware to stop the firm from shifting control of its AI tech from a non-profit charity to a for-profit business.

The European Commission has hit both Apple and Meta Platforms with stiff fines for allegedly breaching the Digital Markets Act (DMA). The Commission announced that it “found that Apple breached its anti-steering obligation under the Digital Markets Act (DMA), and that Meta breached the DMA obligation to give consumers the choice of a service that uses less of their personal data.
