Everyone likes to tell us that if we adopt very strict gun control laws, no one who isn't supposed to have firearms can get them. It's so naive it's almost adorable, or it would be if it wasn't our rights they were idiotically talking about trampling on. Instead, it's very troubling because their nativity is likely to get someone killed. Take Ireland, for instance. Not the Northern Ireland that's part of the UK, mind you.

I will always oppose mandatory storage laws with every fiber of my being. It's not because I object to firearm storage, though. It's because I don't want any government telling people when and how they have to secure their firearms. They don't know your individual situation and so their mandates are likely to make things unnecessarily difficult for someone. But people can and should secure guns when not in use.

The Hearing Protection Act, making it through the House, was a huge win for gun rights. It was specifically crafted to get around the Byrd Rule, which dictates that anything included in a budget or reconciliation bill has to be fiscal in nature. The HPA meets that criteria, in my opinion, though some senators are trying to say otherwise. Still, I think it'll hold firm and we'll get legal suppressors very soon.

Once upon a time, I thought about moving to the Pacific Northwest. While many people lament the weather, I'm someone who loves a lot of rain. That with the massive forests and it just looked like the kind of place that's made just for me. Unfortunately, the anti-gunners go there first and screwed it up for everyone else. Oregon, for example, has floated some of the most vile ideas imaginable.

I haven't tried to hide how fascinating I find 3D printing. The idea that anyone can come up with a concept, prototype it with something that sits on their desk, and sell it to the public is such an amazing thing to me that I'm probably never going to get over it. The fact that you can also use them to make guns just makes it even cooler. The fact that you can do that, though, also means that any hope of gun control working is as dead as it can be.
