In the –60kg category, Charlie Ayre (Tees Valley JC) will be Great Britain’s sole entrant, coming off a seventh-place finish at Kaunas in April. Joshua Chrisp (Blyth Juno Michi) will also compete solo in the –66kg division. As expected, the 73kg category will be a busy one for GB, with Irakli Goginashvili (Palavani), Ben Levy (Budokwai), Ross McWatt (Garioch Judo), Owen Lambert (Bishops Stortford), and Eden Heffernan (Pro Judo) all set to compete.

South Shields Judo Club first partnered with Adam’s school in 2010, and 15 years later, coaches Tommy and Beth Foster are still running taster sessions there, helping young people in the community discover judo. After joining the club, Adam quickly settled in and began training regularly. Now, nearly three years on, he has become a key member of the team, earning a place in the club’s advanced class. The classes, led by Carol Leverton, Chair of the National Refereeing Commission, began in 2013 as part of the Paralympic Potential Programme. The original aim was to introduce the sessions as a talent ID opportunity, but due to strong attendance and the enjoyment students got from them, RNC worked with Carol to make judo a weekly feature and integrate it into the curriculum as one of the college’s three main sports, alongside blind football and goalball.

While it wasn’t a medal-filled outing, there were plenty of encouraging signs and key lessons learned throughout the week. Tatum Keen (Bradley Stoke JC) impressed on her World Championships debut, securing a confident first-round win before narrowly losing to the reigning European champion, who later went on to claim her second world bronze. A strong performance from the 20-year-old, showing she has a bright future ahead at this level.

Watch the video and then take action to save the clean energy tax credits from being cut out of the Bill that shall not be named!

The House passed a budget reconciliation bill that would increase our energy bills & limit America to old, inefficient energy. We can still prevent this budget from doing irreparable harm to our communities as the Senate deliberates. Take action now: https://t.co/ZLomBg30fL https://t.co/clbOMV3Ciq
