It’s one which, nicked from A Midsummer Night’s Dream, has popped up on Butlin’s adverts throughout the years but which now - at least as far as I could see - only appears on the wall of the Splash swimming pool complex at the Bognor Regis site. After five manic, hectic and ultimately wonderful days there, you can see why the slogan still runs true today, even though we are miles from the original days of knobbly knees competitions.

We take the bus into town and then walk up the long flights of steps parallel to the main road to get to the cable car terminal. What looks like a huge queue actually includes a lot of people waiting for an adjacent bus stop, so we wait in line for 15 minutes or so before paying to enter the cable car.

The slimming company, which was founded more than 60 years ago, has been overtaken in recent years by the buzz surrounding weight-loss drugs such as Mounjaro and Ozempic. The filing in America is a Chapter 11 bankruptcy procedure, which is a specific type of legal process which reorganises a company’s debts to allow it to continue trading.
