By TOM REILLY For The Sun Chronicle March continued to be a cool month for home sales in the area -- and not in a good way. Sales of single-family homes in six of the 10 communities The Sun Chronicle covers were up but mostly by modest numbers compared to the same month last year, according to statistics released by The Warren Group Tuesday. Prices were up in six of the 10, as well. Both statistics continued a months-long trend.

Congratulations to all the students from Gaelcholáiste Chomáin, Ros Dumhach, who won the All-Ireland Junior Schools Olympic Handball Championship in Gormanstown, Co. Meath. It is great for their coaches and teachers Ollie and Caroline, who put in so much effort and time to get them over the line, a wonderful moment for the community and many thanks to everyone who supported them on their journey to success. Congratulations Michelle Healy on becoming the Ballyglass RNLI Water Safety Officer.

Linda Conway says thanks so much to all who supported Belmullet Daffodil Day recently and to all the volunteers. The total raised so far on the day is €5,630. Special thanks were extended to Patrick Cosgrove for his donation and she hopes ye all enjoyed his Boxty. People can still donate online total, so far it is €380, thanks to Mary and Shona. A 25 card drive will take place in the Broadhaven Bay Hotel on Good Friday night, April 18, at 8pm. Tickets cost €10 each and will be available at the door.

The draw was held on March 23, and the numbers drawn were; 21, 23, 31 and 33 with no winner for the jackpot €10,100. The house prize of €100 was won by Brendan Murray, Cornboy and the €30 offline winners were Lee Lavelle, Knocknalower and Michael King, Glengad. The €30 online winners were Karen McDonnell, Cornboy and Laura Gibbons, Belmullet. The jackpot in the latest draw which was held on March 30 increased to €10,200.
