The 4 to 13 co-educational school – now part of the Uppingham Group of schools – has entered a period of consultation on the planned closure, with findings expected by spring.

Loughborough Amherst School in Leicestershire, UK, is likely to close at the end of the academic year because of rising operating costs, VAT on fees and other financial pressures, Loughborough Schools Foundation has told parents. Formerly known as the girls-only Our Lady’s Convent School, Amherst is now a Catholic co-educational independent day and boarding school for children aged 4 to 18.
