    SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO.com) — The Sioux Falls School District is entering the home stretch of teacher contract season. Every year there are resignations as teachers move or retire. Human Resources Director Becky Dorman says that part of the process has gone better this year than years past. Teacher contracts were recently sent out, and teachers have two weeks to decide whether or not to sign them.

    SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO.com) — Sioux Falls authorities say stolen car numbers are down in the city but are still warning of the everyday threat. Reports have been on the decline the last two years. However, police say a suspect broke into two apartments this past Sunday, stealing cash and two cars. One car was recovered, but the other is still missing. Officials note that 80 percent or more of cars stolen in Sioux Falls are left unlocked with the keys inside.

    PIERRE, SD (KELO.com) — The South Dakota Department of Corrections is warning about the release of another high-risk offender from prison. 35-year old Glenford Old Lodge will be released to the Winner area. He will be released tomorrow, after serving his entire term and won’t be on parole supervision.

    WASHINGTON, DC (KELO.com) — Ellsworth Air Force Base near Rapid City has come a long way in the last 20 years – and Senator John Thune says he aims to keep it going. 20 years ago the Defense Department’s Base Realignment and Closure Commission proposed closing the base. Thune says it was a gut punch for him, during his first year in the Senate. An all-out effort saved the base, and Senator Thune says Ellsworth has proven its strategic value since then.

    WASHINGTON, DC (KELO.com) — South Dakota Congressman Dusty Johnson is voicing his concerns over President Trump receiving a rather large gift from the Qatari royal family. It’s a Boeing 747-8 jumbo jet, valued at approximately $400 million dollars. But Johnson says it dosen’t look good. Trump says the aircraft will serve as a temporary replacement for Air Force One until the new presidential planes are ready. Johnson says he understands the need for a new plane.
