Photo by Dustin Satloff/Getty Images The idea of Caleb Martin was promising for the Sixers heading into this season. A two-way wing who can provide some versatility at both ends of the floor was what they needed. But with injuries and Martin struggling to deliver consistently, trading him landed a home-run return that came at a time when nearly everything was going wrong. Quentin Grimes was a revelation for the Sixers.

Photo by Jesse D. Garrabrant/NBAE via Getty Images There really weren’t many bright spots for the Sixers this season, but Kelly Oubre Jr.’s play was one of them. The 29-year-old wing returned to Philadelphia last offseason on a very reasonable two-year, $16.3 million deal and spent 2024-25 more than living up to it. While the team was constantly riddled with injuries, Oubre was reliable and available.

And we’re entering Sunday’s early contest against the Bulls on a positive note, too, all things considered. The Sixers have locked up the fifth-best lottery odds, which is not only a good result considering the late start to their tank, but also means all pressure is off for their final game.

Photo by Stacy Revere/Getty Images Six games. That’s all that stands between us and an offseason break from the slog of these Sixers games. And an anxious wait ahead of the NBA draft lottery... but we’ll get to that soon enough and can focus on the odds in the meantime. For now, the next opponent for the Sixers on Thursday is the Bucks, sitting at 41-34 and sixth place in the East.
