Public school mergers and consolidations are extremely difficult for all involved. To be very clear, we want to keep our community schools. We want smaller class sizes. We do not want to close schools as we know this is detrimental to communities in our county. But, the facts are important. Kanawha County Schools must continue to consider mergers and consolidations because in the last 10 years we’ve lost almost 5,000 students, or around 18% of our student population.
