Ukrainian drones clashed with Russian air defenses around Moscow for the third consecutive day on Wednesday, disrupting air traffic at four of the country's international airports. The Russian Defense Ministry said it had destroyed 524 drones in its airspace in the past 24 hours, while the local Association of Tour Operators said at least 350 flights had been hit by delays and cancellations in recent days, affecting some 60,000 passengers.

BRUSSELS — The European Commission launched an internal disciplinary probe into one of its senior officials, Henrik Hololei, over concerns he allegedly violated rules on conflicts of interest, transparency, gift acceptance and document disclosure, according to documents seen by POLITICO. The internal probe comes five months after the European Public Prosecutor’s Office opened a criminal investigation into corruption allegations involving the Estonian politician Hololei.

The Dutch government will impose a no-fly zone over The Hague during the NATO summit on June 24-25, along with other security measures affecting most modes of transport. The flight ban will go into effect on June 23 and will cover a 16-kilometer radius around the city, where “no air traffic will be allowed at all, except for safety purposes and medical emergencies,” Dutch authorities said Tuesday.

BRUSSELS — Moscow is lobbying for the U.S. to open its skies to Russian airlines as part of a ceasefire deal with Ukraine. But there's a big problem with that scheme — the EU isn't keen, and without Europe on board it won't be easy for Russian carriers to fly to the United States. “First, EU sanctions stand firm against Russia, which includes a ban on Russian airlines flying over EU airspace,” said a European Commission official speaking on condition of anonymity.
