THE name of Omagh Town FC will return to the ranks of adult football next season after the club’s application to join the Fermanagh and Western League was accepted at last evening’s annual meeting. Twenty years on since the original club pulled down the shutters at St Julian’s Road, Omagh Town will again be very much back in business when they compete in Division Three of the local junior league in the 2025-26 season.

GARY McGuigan has been appointed the new player-manager of Castlederg United. Last week the Fermanagh and Western League Division Two club confirmed that McGuigan would succeed Tristram Hannan as first team supremo. He will be assisted by club player Dylan Russell who is sidelined due to injury. “Gary who is no stranger around the club nor to the F&W football leagues finally puts the pen to paper and will take on a manager/player role this year,” said a spokesman on the club’s Facebook.

THE local football community was plunged into a state of deep shock and sadness on Saturday evening following the sudden death of new Beragh Swifts manager Michael Kerr. Mr Kerr, 40, passed away at his home near Florencecourt in County Fermanagh. Just seven days earlier Kerr had been confirmed as the new boss at Swifts, a matter of weeks after standing down as manager at Enniskillen Rangers.

A YOUNG athlete from Omagh is looking forward to the challenge of competing at his first international event next month. Gifted teenage long jumper Harvey King is set to represent Northern Ireland at the JBL Jump Fest event in the Slovakian city of Kosice. The 19-year-old qualified for the prestigious event by striking gold at the Northern Ireland Championship back in August when he jumped an impressive 6.78 metres.

TUMMERY Athletic attacker Shea Devlin was named the Fermanagh and Western’s Player of the Year at the annual awards in the Killyhevlin Hotel last evening. Devlin had an exceptional season leading the line and scoring a bagful of goals for the Dromore outfit and in receiving the Robin Mitchell Memorial Cup he pipped the Enniskillen Town pair of Cathal Beacom and Thomas Owens to the top honour on the night.
