WASHINGTON -- The U.S. Supreme Court on Tuesday denied a petition by a group of mostly Asian American parents to review a case about whether an elite Virginia high school's admissions policy discriminates based on race. The decision leaves in place an appellate court's ruling that the policy had no undue impact on Asian American applicants. The justices who declined to take up the case did not provide a reason for their decision.

The bipartisan U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission (USCC) on Tuesday published the report analyzing China's domestic and global censorship practices.

WASHINGTON -- A Chinese fighter jet came within 10 feet, about 3 meters, of a U.S. Air Force B-52 bomber flying over the South China Sea on Tuesday night, the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command said in a statement released on Thursday. The U.S. official blasted the pilot of the Chinese fighter for unsafe maneuvering during poor nighttime visibility, which the official said put both aircraft at risk.

WASHINGTON -- A group of mostly Asian American parents is asking the U.S. Supreme Court to hear a case on the admission standards at an elite Virginia high school, saying policies aimed at promoting diversity discriminate against Asian American applicants. At issue is admissions criteria adopted by the Fairfax County School Board for Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology, locally known as TJ and often ranked among the top high schools in the country.
