Non-conjugated linkage enabling a quinone-based cathode material with long cycle life and high energy density for aqueous zinc batteries† Small-molecule quinones are promising cathode materials for aqueous zinc batteries with high theoretical capacity and desirable voltage. However, they usually exhibit high solubility in aqueous electrolytes, resulting in the loss of active material and a short cycle life.

AbstractThe benefits of masting (volatile, quasi-synchronous seed production at lagged intervals) include satiation of seed predators, but these benefits come with a cost to mutualist pollen and seed dispersers. If the evolution of masting represents a balance between these benefits and costs, we expect mast avoidance in species that are heavily reliant on mutualist dispersers.
