Toni: Last week’s Medicare Part D question was from Tonya regarding discovering that she and her husband are receiving an “extra” Part D premium, which she never knew about. You advised her to contact her local Congressional office to help appeal the Medicare issue. I now must fight Social Security because they are under the impression that I have waited past my 8-month window to enroll in Medicare, which I did not.

You Say Tomato, I Say Tomahto!Every once in a while, I will use a word or phrase -- with the most innocent of intentions -- that nevertheless ends up driving some people nuts. Well, if not "nuts," it at least makes them irate enough to send me an email voicing their anger with my language choices. I've saved some up, and here they are today. Q: It really gets my goat when you use the term "Social Security checks." Don't you know that no one gets a paper check anymore?

I was surprised when I signed a hospital form stating that I was “under observation,” as the doctor decided whether to admit me as an inpatient or send me home. I was lucky that he sent me home. During this Medicare Annual Enrollment (AEP), my husband, Alan, enrolled in a Medicare Advantage HMO for the first time.
