CHARLES TOWN — The Ranson Civic Center served as a venue large enough to host the Celebration of Life for Tyler Sigler, a 28-year-old county resident who was killed Saturday in an accident at Locust Hill Golf Course. Sigler, along with his friend, Tyler Browning, were in a golf cart that was hit when a tree fell during a fast-approaching storm. Browning remains in Winchester Medical Center in serious condition.

MARTINSBURG—Two Bunker Hill residents have been sentenced in U.S. Federal Court for selling large quantities of crystal methamphetamine, fentanyl, cocaine and heroin in Berkeley, Morgan and Hampshire counties. A press release issued this week announced that Andrew Ross Hose, 40, was sentenced to 293 months in prison. Bradley Allen Lopp, 36, was sentenced to 24 months in federal prison.

CHARLES TOWN — Legislators from the Eastern Panhandle gathered in Charles Town Monday evening to discuss bills that passed into law during the recently concluded legislative session, as well as bills that failed to make the cut. In attendance were Delegates Joe Funkhouser, Wayne Clark and Bill Ridenour and Sens. Jason Barrett and Sen. Patricia Rucker.

CHARLES TOWN—Jefferson County Sheriff’s officials have confirmed that one individual was killed and another injured in an accident Saturday evening. Chief Deputy Victor Lupis issued a statement Monday indicating that at approximately 4:54 p.m., first responders were dispatched to the Locust Hill Golf Course, 278 St. Andrews Drive, in Charles Town. Upon arrival at the scene, deputies discovered two golfers who were severely injured as a result of a tree falling on their golf cart.
