Blowout losses in sports are sometimes easier to handle than a heartbreaking defeat, but West Hempstead girls’ lacrosse has responded as well as coach Suzanne Kenney hoped to an early gut-check — an 11-10 setback to Clarke in overtime in just the second Nassau Conference 4 game of the season. North Shore’s defensive discipline and some of its most dynamic offensive weapons were on display April 24 at Hewlett when the Vikings carried a shutout into the final minutes of a convincing 13-2 victory. Junior attack Angelo Anobile continued his torrid start with four goals and one assist, while sophomores Anthony Cimino and James Clancy, and freshmen Julian Tirino and Tyler Curran added two goals apiece as North Shore (5-3) won for the fifth time in its last six games.
