With spring football now in the rearview mirror for Ohio State, it’s time to look back at what happened with each position group and where things currently stand for the Buckeyes. We continue our series with the running backs. The Buckeyes have an interesting mix of running backs, as the most experienced member of the room is transfer CJ Donaldson from West Virginia. James Peoples and Sam Williams-Dixon are second-year guys, while three true freshmen will be on campus this season as well.

Ohio State has secured a verbal commitment from 2026 wide receiver Brock Boyd. Boyd, who flipped his commitment from TCU, announced the news via social media. Boyd attends Southlake Carroll High School in Southlake, Texas. He is ranked the No. 58 receiver in the nation per the 247Sports Composite and the No. 374 player overall. Ohio State offered Boyd (6-2 180) back in January following a junior season where he caught 111 passes for 1,875 yards and 19 touchdowns.

With spring football now in the rearview mirror for Ohio State, it’s time to look back at what happened with each position group and where things currently stand for the Buckeyes. We start our series with the safeties. Ohio State returns the best safety in college football in junior Caleb Downs, as well as a pair of backups who have each started a game or two in their respective careers. Redshirt freshman Leroy Roker is making some noise.

This past Saturday’s Ohio State spring game was the public’s best look yet at why the hype for redshirt freshman quarterback Julian Sayin is so high. With redshirt sophomore Lincoln Kienholz’s stellar play in the second half, those same fans also saw why head coach Ryan Day says the quarterback competition between the two is wide open. Saturday was the best Sayin has looked in front of a crowd all spring long, completing 17-of-24 passes for 175 yards and a touchdown.

Ohio State football history is littered with wide receivers whose most notable moments came in the Buckeyes’ annual spring game, but there’s no need to expect that with redshirt freshman receiver Mylan Graham. Graham led the Buckeyes with four receptions for 104 yards in Saturday’s spring game, which also included a 51-yard catch-and-run touchdown that allowed him to show his speed and ability to make defenders miss. His performance wasn’t a huge surprise.

Emptying my notebook from Ohio State's chilly Friday morning practice today. Quarterbacks had their moments, both good and bad. Mylan Graham continues to stand out, as does Jermaine Mathews. https://t.co/tLmYKY9jmr
