Review:
Over the last two decades, Sarah Pinborough has published in the region of thirty novels, but did not hit the bigtime until the international smash Behind Her Eyes (2017). This thriller was also adapted by Netflix and is particularly memorable due to its astonishing twist ending.

In the sixty years since Ramsey Campbell published his first short story collection, The Inhabitant of the Lake (1964), an incredible number of subsequent collections have followed, amounting to hundreds of new tales.

Review:
Whether Nick Cutter chooses to write horror under this pseudonym or contemporary fiction under his own name, Craig Davidson, both have equally impressive back catalogues. Cutter was born back in 2014 and is probably best known for his debut The Troop, which won the sadly short-lived James Herbert Award.

Review:
The number of horror novels which take sideswipes (or direct punches to the face) at religion continue to drop at pace, with American Rapture being one of the most striking yet.

Over the last few years Flame Tree Press has undoubtedly become the new home-from-home for horror legend Ramsey Campbell, dropping a number of new novels and repackaging a few older titles. His latest release, The Incubations, coincides with the celebrations around the author’s remarkable sixty years in print.

Review:
Horror involving Irish folklore may well find itself back in the big time with the arrival of Stay in the Light, the direct sequel to international smash hit, The Watchers (2021). I interviewed A.M. Shine back in 2022, when the brilliant The Creeper was released, and he never gave any indication a sequel was in the works.

I am an absolute sucker for horror novels with strong music references and so when I heard Brom’s Evil in Me was taking a dive into this most hallowed of waters, I jumped at the chance of unpacking my air guitar for just one more solo.

Review:
I am a huge fan of Dawn Kurtagich and have read the majority of her YA fiction and featured three of her books in my review almanac The YA Horror 400, which was published earlier in the year. Dawn’s YA is on the mature side, so adults could happily enjoy Dead House (2015), The Creeper Man (2016) or Teeth in the Mist (2019) without feeling under-challenged.

Modern Folk Horror Explored: Tony’s Top TipsTo celebrate the recent release of James Brogden’s excellent The Strandling I am dipping into my huge back catalogue of reviews, highlighting personal favourites which have key Folk Horror traits. If obvious favourites which often pop up on such lists are absent, this only means I did not review them. The term Folk Horror can be tricky to pin down and aspects of this sub-genre can appear in most aspects of supernatural fiction.
