There was wild speculation about what the New Orleans Saints would do with the ninth pick of the draft. With the situation surrounding Derek Carr still up in the air at the time, many thought Shedeur Sanders was a possibility. Others thought it would be one of the top pass rushers, while a large contingent believed the pick would be Tyler Warren. In the end, the franchise went back to the well.

The Panthers moved towards the draft with a lot of needs on defense, especially at the pass-rusher spot. Most everyone thought they would use the eighth pick of the draft on one of two edge rushers, Jalon Walker or Mykel Williams, but they threw a curveball. NFL: NFL Draft - Source: ImagnDespite having their choice of pass rushers and offers to move down, the Panthers pulled the trigger on receiver Tetairoa McMillan, and it was a brilliant selection.

The Atlanta Falcons entered the draft needing help on all three levels of defense and addressed most of them with their limited number of picks. In doing so, they made a surprising trade that ended with Atlanta leaving the draft with two of the event’s best pass rushers. NFL: NFL Draft - Source: ImagnJalon Walker, graded by many as a top-10 prospect and justifiably so, made a precipitous drop down draft boards. When he fell to the 15th pick, he was too good to pass up for Atlanta.

There were a lot of directions the Chargers could go early in the draft, but the overwhelming belief was they would look for a skill player, preferably a receiver or tight end. An interior defensive lineman was also in the mix. In the end, the team came out of the draft with players at all those positions, spread out over its nine selections.

The Raiders entered the draft with needs all over the offensive side of the football: pass catchers, blockers and ball carriers. Defensively, they were also looking for help on all three levels. Vegas ended up with 11 picks and, to their credit, filled a lot of its needs.
