    Nearly a year on, it’s clear that the Voice vote in Australia was both encouraging and discouraging. Encouraging, in that it was the first time anywhere in the world that an issue of identity politics was put to the people and resoundingly defeated. But discouraging, in that the political class and the elite establishment seem determined to push on with indigenous separatism, as if the vote had never happened or didn’t really mean anything.
