ABILENE, Texas — After almost 28 years of service, Gloria’s Grill officially shut its doors in March of 2024. Now, it’s back and officially reopened on Monday for the first time in over a year. Gloria’s Grill closed its doors last spring so owner Gloria Hermosillo could focus on her husband’s health. “My husband was hurting real bad and needed to have several surgeries," Hermosillo said. "He needed to have three surgeries done from the time we closed until now, so we’re opening back up.

ANSON, Texas — The City of Anson declared the Bluebonnet Detention Center as critical infrastructure on Friday, and because of that, it allowed them to enact a buffer zone. But for the residents around the area, it doesn’t change much. The move comes after recent protests near the facility. Last week, the Anson Police Department went before City Council, asking for the detention center to be designated as critical infrastructure.

BRECKENRIDGE, Texas — About a month ago, the city of Breckenridge released an ordinance clarifying that residents living in residential vehicles, RVs, cannot park them in residential areas. Since then, city officials said they’ve seen a noticeable difference. However, parking in a visible location in front of a home is limited to just 24 hours. ABILENE, Texas — Abilene ISD officially named its 2024-25 Elementary Teacher of the Year. The award was given to Jennifer Crisp, a teacher from Taylor Elementary. “I was completely shocked, humbled, and honored,” Crisp said. “One of the great things about that event is that you hear all the stories of the excellent teaching happening in our district. It was inspirational, and I wish everyone in our district could have heard those stories.
