CLYDE, Texas — Recently, Clyde residents have called out what drivers describe as a growing problem on I-20 near Abilene, cars merging too slowly onto the interstate. According to Texas transportation guidelines, drivers entering the freeway must first yield to the highway traffic, but are expected to merge at a speed that matches the flow of right-of-way-vehicles. The minimum speed entering most highways, including I-20, is 45 miles per hour.

ABILENE, Texas — You’ve probably heard the phrase, “every vote counts.”But in Taylor County, not many people showed up to cast theirs. Only about 8% of registered voters participated in the 2025 Joint City and School General and Special Elections. Abilene residents said better outreach might help, but ultimately, Spitzer said voters have to want to show up. (Sinclair)Out of more than 73,000 registered voters in Taylor County, just under 6,000 showed up for the local election this weekend.

They're taking steps to fix it. A recent network disruption from a cyber incident put a spotlight on the challenges already facing Abilene’s Citylink system, especially its paratransit service, which helps residents with disabilities get around town.
