    Kingston City Hall will have a new chief at the helm for one day and one day only – and that leader will be a fifth grader. Following the eagerness and excitement of last year’s first-ever ‘Mayor for a Day’ program, the City of Kingston is encouraging young leaders to apply for the experience in 2025. According to Kingston Mayor Bryan Paterson’s Office, the response and number of applications from fifth graders to be mayor for a day last year were overwhelmingly positive.

    UPDATE (Thursday, Jun. 5, 2025):The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have provided an update on a missing person case, as the missing 26-year-old, Tarone (pictured above), has been seen since police initially issued an appeal for public assistance. Originally, on Tuesday, Jun. 3, 2025, the OPP East Region issued notice of the missing person, saying that Tarone had last been seen on Saturday, May 24, 2025, in Greater Napanee.

    Kingston Police are advising that a section of Bath Road has been closed, and that the closure is expected to be prolonged. At approximately 5:35 p.m. on Wednesday, Jun. 4, 2025, Kingston Fire & Rescue, Kingston Police, and Frontenac Paramedics were all dispatched to a collision that occurred on Bath Road between Portsmouth Avenue and Sir John A. Macdonald Boulevard. Witnesses reported the collision only involved one vehicle.

    Kingston Police have released the above image and are requesting public assistance to locate the person pictured, 35-year-old Sarah. In a press release on Wednesday, Jun. 4, 2025, police said that Sarah was last seen on Saturday, May 3, 2025, in the 400-block area of MacDonnell Street. The 400 block of MacDonnell Street runs roughly from South Bartlett Street on the north end to Park Street on the south end.
