    The estranged wife of the Ooni, Naomi Silekunola, has prayed for the repose of the souls of dozens of children killed in the Ibadan food stampede. At least 35 children died in the stampede over free meals during a funfair at the Islamic High School, Bashorun Ibadan, last December. My prayer is for God to comfort the families and rest the souls of the children who lost their lives in the unfortunate occurrence.

    Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has approved a review of entry grade level for university graduate nurses in the state’s civil service commission. This is contained in a statement issued on Thursday by the Oyo state government spokesperson, Dotun Oyelade.  Mr Oyelade said that the Provost, Oyo State College of Nursing Sciences, Ibadan, Gbonjubola Owolabi, disclosed the implementation of the review during a meeting with 21 nursing tutors, whose entry grade levels were reviewed to GL10 from GL08.

    The Oyo State Government has withdrawn the criminal charges against popular broadcaster and Chairman of Agidigbo FM, Hamzat Oriyomi, Ooni of Ife ex-wife, Naomi Silekunola, and the head teacher of Islamic High School, Basorun, Ibadan, Abdullahi Fasasi, over the stampede that led to the death of 35 children.   Recall that the incident occurred following a stampede at a funfair at the school organised by Ms Silekunola and promoted by Mr Oriyomi’s radio station based in Ibadan.
