MADISON COUNTY, Iowa (KCAU) — Authorities are reminding drivers to be mindful on the road as the weather changes causing slick road conditions. On Tuesday morning between 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., the Madison County Sheriff’s Office and other law enforcement responded to seven separate vehicle crashes due to the road condition along Highway 81 and 275, according to a press release. At one crash near Madison, the sheriff’s office said one person was taken to a hospital.

According to court documents, Skyler J Hungerford, 31, was arrested on Nov. 28 for first-degree sexual assault of a child, a class 1B felony. On Nov. 27, the Norfolk Police Department received a call and went to a Norfolk hotel to look for and pick up a missing juvenile from a nearby county. An officer found the juvenile in the hotel lobby, and she was to be reunited with her family.

DES MOINES, Iowa (KCAU) — The U.S. Department of Labor is looking is distribute more than $500,000 in wages and encourages Iowans to use the Workers Owned Wages (WOW) online tool to find wages that they may be owed. According to a press release, the U.S. Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division recovered $535,703 in wages and wants to return them to 808 Iowa workers. Anyone who believes they may be owed back wages or knows someone who may be owed wages is encouraged to use this tool.

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — The Crittenton Center has announced that it has received a $15,000 holiday grant from the Missouri River Historical Development (MHRD). According to a press release, this grant will allow the Crittenton Center to purchase much-needed supplies for its Transitional Therapeutic Home (shelter), including an educational curriculum, therapeutic resources, and other items to support young children seeking refuge.

During the Goodwill’s Shoe Party Program, volunteers will help distribute the supplies, ensuring kids get cold-weather necessities including gloves, socks, and shoes, at no cost to them or their families, according to a press release. “Goodwill’s Shoe Party is a heartwarming event that truly brings the community together.
