The Ottawa Police Service says one of its members is facing a total of six charges related to sexual allegations involving minors. Const. Charlene Abella has been charged by the Peel Regional Police Service with three counts of sexual assault, two counts of sexual interference and one count of sexual exploitation. The alleged incidents happened while the officer was off-duty, according to police.

The Ontario Provincial police (OPP) is seeking video footage of a possible firearm-related incident on Highway 417 that started in an eastern Ontario village and ended in Ottawa last week. The investigation started on April 4 when police received a call shortly after 8 p.m. reporting a vehicle was being followed on the highway by a grey car from the Casselman area to the exit of the highway at Nicolas Street in the capital, the OPP says.

The Ottawa Paramedic Service says a man was taken to hospital in non-life-threatening condition following a shooting in Bells Corners Wednesday afternoon. Paramedics say they received a call shortly before 4:30 p.m. reporting a shooting on Bexley Place, near Robertson and Stafford roads. When they arrived at the scene, they found a man who was seriously injured. He was taken to hospital in non-life-threatening condition. More to come

A driver was issued a $110 fine for not cleaning off the snow before hitting Highway 417 Wednesday, according to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP). Police say they were responding to a stalled vehicle on the highway at Rochester Street, when the driver had to hit the brakes quickly, causing the accumulated snow to fall onto the windshield. Though it not cause a crash, police say, the incident resulted in congested traffic. The fine was issued for depositing snow on the roadway, police add.
