The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office held a private meeting on Thursday, June 6, to discuss the removal of safety resource officers from schools. Cumberland County Superintendent Dr. Marvin Connelly Jr., Assistant Chiefs Todd Joyce and Robert Ramirez from the Fayetteville Police Department, Spring Lake Police Chief Errol Jarman, and Chairwoman Deanna Jones of Cumberland County Schools were in attendance.

The event is set for Saturday, March 16, at the Iron Mike Conference Center, 2658 Rock Merritt Ave. on Fort Liberty. The event runs from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.
The Big Hat Brunch is one of the chapter's defining events. It debuted in March 2010 as an annual scholarship fundraiser.

On Monday, February 5, 2024, the Hope Mills board unanimously approved the decision for Chancer McLaughlin to become the town manager. McLaughlin accepted his new role, and was sworn in with his parents, wife, and daughter by his side. His fraternity brothers from his local chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc., and a host of friends were also present to witnessed this historic moment as he becomes the first African American town manager for the municipality.

Massey Hills Lions Club’s signature event is no ordinary Golden Corral buffet. The Shucking for Sight Oyster Roast has been steadily going on for over a half-century, attracting visitors from all over the nation.
The event will occur on Saturday, Jan. 27, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at 1613 Camden Road, Fayetteville.
Oyster season is popular in North Carolina, which starts in October and runs through March.
