After two days of live music that had crowds crooning and grooving throughout the city, the White Rock Jazz and Blues Festival has wrapped up another successful year.
Held June 13 and 14 on stages in the Five Corners and Uptown business areas, as well as Blue Frog Studios, the festival offered both free and ticketed performances from a host of artists, including Tom Lavin and the Legendary Powder Blues Band, Alexander Browne and his Boulevardiers, Colin Sankey and the White Rock Rhythm Kings.

Police in Surrey are investigating an assault that occurred outside the Grandview Heights Aquatic Centre last week that sent two male youths to hospital with minor injuries.
According to Surrey Police Service Staff Sgt. Lindsey Houghton, officers responded to the 16855 24 Ave. facility following a 911 call reporting a fight between two groups of youths at around 7:45 p.m. on June 5.
"Two youth victims were pepper-sprayed," Houghton confirmed.

A retired nurse who spent most of her nursing career in operating rooms including those at Peace Arch Hospital is the first patient in B.C. – and likely Western Canada – to receive a new hip with the aid of a robotic-arm assisted surgical system.
Maureen Coutts underwent the procedure on April 24 at Burnaby Hospital. Just over one month post-surgery, she says she is still in awe of how far health care has come since she first walked into an operating room.

A special weather statement issued Friday (June 6) cautions temperatures are expected to soar this weekend and into early next week.
According to Environment Canada, a ridge of high pressure means daytime highs are expected to be in "the high 20s to low 30s" throughout Metro Vancouver, including Surrey, White Rock and Delta.
