Tracy Sierra gets right down to business in her debut thriller. "There was someone in the house" is the very first sentence. The unnamed narrator, alone in the house with her two children, acts almost as if she's prepared for this moment --- and perhaps, during her bouts of insomnia, she has. The historic New England farmhouse in the middle of nowhere has all kinds of quirks and secrets. Some, like the drafts and creaky floorboards, are annoying.
